Zoom Whitening

The teeth play more roles than just biting, chewing, and aiding in speech. They are also an integral component in the appearance of your smile. Your smile is often the first thing that people notice about you. Moreover, when you smile, your teeth become very apparent. Any discoloration of your teeth can significantly dull its impact and can leave you feeling self-conscious. At Florida Prosthodontics, we can restore the brilliant white to your teeth with Zoom whitening.

What Causes Teeth to Become Discolored?

The outermost layer of your teeth hard and naturally bright white in color. However, over time, this hard layer begins to develop microfractures, which can capture and hold pigments, stains, and other debris that can significantly dull the color of your teeth. Common contributing factors to the discoloration of your teeth include:
•  What you eat and drink. Many foods like coffee, tea, red wine, dark berries and more contain high levels of very dark pigments. These pigments can collect on the surfaces of your teeth, dulling their color.
•  Smoking. Cigarettes and other tobacco products contain numerous chemicals. Tar and nicotine are specifically responsible for staining. While tar is naturally dark, nicotine yellows when it comes into contact with oxygen.
•  Certain types of medications. Medications like doxycycline and tetracycline can leave dark stains deep within the teeth.

What Is Zoom Whitening?

You may have seen a wide variety of different types of tooth whitening products available at local stores and pharmacies. Very few of these products can achieve the results you are looking for, especially if you have deeper, darker stains. Zoom whitening is a type of professional whitening that not only whitens the enamel of your teeth but your dentin as well, providing you with a whiter, brighter smile than you ever thought possible. We offer two types of Zoom whitening, chairside and take-home trays.

Chairside Zoom Whitening

Zoom! Whitening at Florida Prosthodontics
Chairside Zoom whitening takes one visit, and only about an hour of your time. After we clean your teeth, we place a lip retractor in your mouth. Next, we paint the whitening gel on your teeth. We then place a special light over your mouth. The whitening gel contains carbamide peroxide. This ingredient breaks down, and the peroxide becomes tiny oxygen bubbles. These bubbles enter into the enamel and the dentin of your teeth, clinging to stains and bleaching them away. The light is used to enhance the effects. Zoom in-office whitening can whiten your teeth up to 8 shades in just one appointment, and the results are noticeable immediately.

Zoom Whitening at Home

If you would prefer to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home, Zoom take-home trays may be the solution for you. We create custom-fit trays and provide you with the whitening gel. The trays are designed to hold the gel against your teeth. They are meant to be worn twice a day for several hours or overnight while you sleep. Based on your specific needs and goals, we can determine how long the trays should be used for. Take-home trays can whiten your teeth up to 6 shades, and results are typically noticeable in about a week.

Zoom whitening can restore a brilliant bright white color to your teeth, giving you back your luminous, confident smile. Call Florida Prosthodontics today at (321) 252-9950 to schedule your appointment.
