Porcelain Veneers

Your teeth are an important component of your mouth, performing a variety of different functions. Along with biting and chewing, your teeth also play a vital role in the quality of your smile. Any damage, no matter how minor, can significantly affect your smile, which can also impact your confidence. This lack of confidence can cause you to hide your smile at all costs. Fortunately, minor flaws in your teeth can be corrected. Florida Prosthodontics can help with porcelain veneers.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are a cosmetic restoration that is made to cover over minor dental imperfections in your visible teeth. They resemble thin shells that are made to be bonded to the fronts of the teeth, effectively restoring or enhancing the beauty of your smile.

Veneers are typically made of composite resin or porcelain. We offer porcelain veneers. Porcelain provides several significant advantages over composite resin. The material is stronger, lasting upwards of 15 years or more. It is also significantly more natural in appearance. Porcelain can be made to perfectly match the color of your natural teeth, and it reflects light just like natural tooth enamel. With porcelain veneers, no one will be able to tell the difference between the veneers and your teeth.

What Can Porcelain Veneers Correct?

Porcelain veneers can be used to correct a wide array of minor dental imperfections, including:
•  Teeth with cracks or chips that only affect the enamel layer of your teeth.
•  Teeth that are affected by minor alignment issues, such as gaps or slight overlapping.
•  Teeth that oddly shaped or sized.
•  Discoloration that cannot be corrected with whitening.

How Are Porcelain Veneers Placed?

The process for getting porcelain veneers traditionally takes two visits. Thanks to CAD/CAM technology, however, we can create your veneers in a single appointment. First, we prepare the affected teeth. This preparation, done under a local anesthetic, involves removing a thin layer of the enamel from the fronts of each tooth. After the teeth are prepared, we take a digital impression of your mouth. The impression shows up in 3-D on a computer monitor. With specialized CAD software, we can design veneers that will fit perfectly on your teeth. After they are designed, the information is sent to the in-house milling machine. The machine uses the design to create the veneers. Once they are finished, we check them for fit, bite, and comfort. Any necessary adjustments that are needed can be made and then the veneers are bonded to your teeth.

The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers offer numerous benefits, including:
•  They perfectly restore, and even enhance, the appearance of your smile. Porcelain can be made to perfectly match your natural teeth.
•  With your smile restored, your confidence will soar.
•  The material is biocompatible. It will not irritate your gum tissue.
•  Porcelain veneers are stain resistant, even more so than your natural tooth enamel.
•  Porcelain is strong and can withstand most normal daily wear and tear. With proper care, they can last 15 years or more.

Porcelain veneers beautifully restore the appearance of your teeth, giving you a huge boost of confidence. For more information, and to schedule your consultation, call Florida Prosthodontics today at (321) 252-9950.
